#14 Oilers Roll to Senior Day Win

The University of Findlay men's basketball team finished their regular season with an 88-61 win over Hillsdale College on Feb. 24 in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the 14th-ranked Oilers a 25-3 record on the season with a 19-1 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers, who were playing on senior day, found themselves down 40-31 at the break. The Oilers then out-scored the Chargers 57-21 in the second half to pick up another win in front of the home fans.

Findlay shot 50.7 percent (34-of-67) from the floor and canned 47.8 percent (11-of-23) of their three pointers in the game. They also held a 44-27 advantage on the boards in the win.

Senior guard Elijah Kahlig led the way with 20 points on the strength of a 6-of-7 showing from three point range. Kahlig also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in the contest.

Senior guard Martyce Kimbrough had 14 points while senior forward Taren Sullivan had 12 points, tied his career-high with ten assists, and had five boards. Sullivan also made everyone smile before the game as he proposed to his girlfriend during senior day festivities.

Junior forward Alex White reached double figures with ten points and also chipped in six rebounds while sophomore forward Aaron Overhiser contributed eight points and four rebounds off the bench.

Freshman guard Tommy Schmock added eight points off the pine while senior guard Austin Gardner recorded six points and a career-high eight rebounds.

The Chargers, who shot 42.4 percent (25-of-59) from the floor, received 21 points from Stedman Lowry and 20 points from Ryan Badowski.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday, March 1 when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College at 6pm in the first round of the G-MAC Tournament.
