#17 Oilers Rally For 67-66 Win Over Walsh

Box Score

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 17th in the nation, came from behind late to nip Walsh University by a score of 67-66 on Dec. 6 in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the Oilers a 7-1 record on the season with a 2-1 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

Trailing by one at 66-65 with just under four seconds to play in regulation, senior guard Trey Smith was fouled on a jump shot attempt to give Findlay a chance to tie or take the lead. Smith went to the line and calmly connected on a pair of attempts to put the Oilers ahead by one at 67-66. Junior forward Katwan Singleton then intercepted a long inbounds pass by Walsh and was fouled in the process. Singleton missed his attempt from the line and time ran out to give Findlay another victory on their home floor.

The Oilers, who only shot 37.3 percent (25-of-67) from the floor, were led by junior forward Aaron Overhiser. Overhiser recorded a double-double in the win, scoring 23 points to go along with a career-high 12 rebounds. He made 7-of-16 attempts from the floor and canned all four of his three point attempts in the game.

Smith finished the game with 14 points while senior forward Alex White recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

JT Shumate led Walsh with a game-high 26 points.

The Oilers will be back at home on Saturday to host Malone University at 3pm.
