#14 Oilers Come Up Short Against Lewis

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 14th in the nation, fell 76-73 to Lewis University on Dec. 19 in Joilet, Ill. The Oilers, who were playing their third game in five days, fall to 9-2 on the season with the loss.

The Oilers held a 36-31 lead at the break before being outscored 45-37 the rest of the way. Findlay had a chance to tie on the final possession, but a three point attempt by senior guard Trey Smith was off the mark.

Senior forward Alex White paced the Oilers with 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting. He also added eight rebounds in the loss.

Junior forward Aaron Overhiser recorded a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds while sophomore forwards Anthony Masterlasco and Chazz George each contributed eight points apiece. Smith also added eight points in the game as well.

The Oilers shot 43.1 percent (28-of-65) from the floor and turned the ball over 14 times. Lewis meanwhile hit 42.6 percent (26-of-61) from the field and made eight three pointers.

Kendale McCullum led the Flyers with a game-high 25 points to go along with seven rebounds, six assists and four steals.

The Oilers will now take a break before coming back to campus to host Olivet College on Dec. 29 at 3pm. The Oilers will also be celebrating their 10-year anniversary of winning the 2009 NCAA Division II men's basketball championship.
