#6 Oilers Beat Battlers in 1st Round

The 6th-ranked University of Findlay men's basketball team breezed by Alderson Broaddus University in the opening round of the 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament, winning 88-62 on March 5 in the Croy Physical Education Center. The victory pushes the Oilers record to 26-3 and enables them to host the semifinals and finals of the tournament on March 8-9.

The Oilers shot 51.6 percent (32-of-62) from the floor and canned 10-of-18 (55.6%) tries from three point range. They also limited the Battlers to a mere 37 percent (20-of-54) shooting clip and forced 17 turnovers in the victory.

Senior forward Alex White had another big game for Findlay with a game-high 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting. White also added five rebounds and made all five of his three point attempts, which established a new career-high.

Sophomore forward Anthony Masterlasco had 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting while junior forward Aaron Overhiser had 11 points and five rebounds.

Sophomore forward Chazz George came off the bench to provide nine points while senior guard Trey Smith had seven.

Sophomore guard Tommy Schmock had a great all-around game for Findlay as well, scoring seven points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists.

The Oilers will host Cedarville University in the semifinals on March 8. The game is scheduled to tip at 6pm in Croy.
