Oilers Fall 88-80 to Falcons in OT

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 17th in the nation, went to overtime with NCAA Division I foe Bowling Green State University on Oct. 30 before falling 88-80 in the Stroh Center.

The Oilers held the lead for over 25 minutes In a game that featured nine ties and eight lead changes, but came up a bit short in the end as they were outscored 12-4 in the extra session. As a team, the Oilers held a 53-45 advantage on the boards and limited the Falcons to a 39.5 percent (32-of-81) shooting clip. Findlay meanwhile made 45.1 percent (32-of-71) of their field goal attempts and drained 11 three pointers. The Falcons did make 17 free throws compared to only five for Findlay.

Freshman guard Joey Edmonds came off the bench to provide a team-high 15 points to go along with five rebounds in 18 minutes of action. Edmonds canned 5-of-6 three point tries in the game.

Freshman forward Nathan Bruns scored 14 points on a 7-of-12 shooting to go along with six rebounds in a starting role while junior forward Anthony Masterlasco had 11 points and four boards.

Sophomore guard Ethan Linder contributed nine points and three rebounds while junior guard Tommy Schmock had seven points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

The Oilers will now prepare for the regular season which starts on Nov. 8 when they host Truman State University at 5pm inside the Croy Physical Education Center at Niekamp Arena.
