Bulldogs Top #17 Oilers

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 17th in the nation, suffered a 67-59 loss to Truman State University on Nov. 8 in Niekamp Arena in their first game of the season.

The Oilers fell behind 31-18 at the half and battled back to take a 57-54 lead with just under five minutes to play. The Oilers then missed several opportunities to extend their lead with missed free throws and Truman took advantage down the stretch to pick up the win.

Both teams shot 40.3 percent (25-of-62) from the floor and struggled from the three point line. Findlay made only 3-of-20 (15%) attempts from three point range while the Bulldogs converted only 2-of-20 (10%) attempts. The Bulldogs went 15-of-21 (71.4%) from the however while the Oilers finished 6-of-11 (54.5%).

Junior forward Anthony Masterlasco led the Oilers with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting while freshman forward Nathan Bruns had eight points, eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

Senior forward Aaron Overhiser finished the game with eight points and six rebounds while junior guard Tommy Schmock had eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Senior forward Andrew Emrick came off the bench to provide six points and seven rebounds as well.

The Bulldogs were led by Brodric Thomas' 31 points and eight rebounds.

Findlay will host Quincy University tomorrow at 6pm.
