Bruns Leads Oilers to OT Win

The University of Findlay men's basketball outlasted Trevecca Nazarene University on Feb. 8 in Nashville, Tenn., winning 84-77 in overtime. The win pushes the Oilers record to 16-6 on the season with an 11-2 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers led by double digits for the majority of the second half before the Trojans came storming back to force overtime. Findlay then outscored the Trojans by a 15-8 margin in the extra session to pick up the win.

The Oilers shot 48.3 percent (29-of-60) from the floor and canned 7-of-19 (36.8%) attempts from behind the three point line. They also came away with 11 steals and attempted a season-high 32 free throws, hitting 19 of them.

Freshman forward Nathan Bruns led the way with a career-high 29 points on 12-of-17 shooting. He also added five rebounds, four assists, and a career-high four steals in the victory.

Junior forward Anthony Masterlasco had a great game as well, scoring 17 points to go along with four rebounds while sophomore guard Ethan Linder provided 16 points and four boards.

Junior forward Chazz George came off the bench to provide 12 points while junior guard Tommy Schmock had three points, eight assists, and four steals.

The Trojans, who made 11 triples in the game, were led by Austin Wills' 25 points. Wills did most of his damage from behind the three point line as he drained 7-of-12 attempts.

The Oilers will return home and prepare to host Ohio Dominican University on Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Niekamp Arena.
