Cavaliers Top Oilers in Semifinals

The University of Findlay men's basketball team lost 81-72 to Walsh University on March 6 in Niekamp Arena during the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) semifinals. The loss ends the Oilers season as they finish with a 21-8 record.

The Oilers only shot 39-.7 percent (27-of-68) from the floor while the Cavaliers hit 51.9 percent (28-of-54) of their shot attempts in the game. Walsh also drained 11-of-26 (42.3%) attempts from behind the three point line and held a 45-32 advantage on the boards.

Sophomore guard Ethan Linder led the way with 14 points while senior forward Aaron Overhiser capped his career with 12 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Overhiser concludes his career with 1,061 points, the 42nd-best total in school history.

Junior forward Anthony Masterlasco also reached double figures with 11 points while junior forward Chazz George came off the bench to provide nine points and three steals.

Junior guard Tommy Schmock finished with seven points, eight assists, five rebounds, and three steals. He ends the season with 198 assists, eclipsing his own school record set last year. His 6.8 assists per game this year was also good enough to establish a new school record.

The Cavaliers were led by Mark Mokros 23 points while Christian Montague had 20 points and 11 rebounds.
