Oilers Withstand First-Half Surge | Win 18th Straight vs Tiffin

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's basketball team continued its' win streak, spanning 3,619 days, against the Tiffin Dragons on Saturday, Dec. 10 with a 70-54 victory in Croy Gymnasium. The victory, the Oilers 18th-straight against their Route 224 rivals, gives Findlay a 6-3 record on the year with a 2-1 record in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Tiffin falls to 3-6 with a 1-2 record in league action.

Six minutes into the game, senior Joey Edmonds made good on a triple try to give Findlay a 20-6 lead, a lead that hovered around in double-digits for most of the first half. However, a late 15-3 run by Tiffin made the score 34-31 at the half.

Three points would be as close as the Dragons got. With three minutes to play in the second half, the Oilers had blown the game wide open, taking a 21-point lead at 68-47, and ultimately going on to pick up the victory.

Findlay shot 46% (26-of-56) from the floor including making 8-of-18 (.444) from deep while the Dragons struggled, making just 23-of-62 (.371) from the field including an ice cold 2-for-22 (.091) from beyond the arc.

Rebounds were tight, but Findlay held a slight 35-to-33 edge. Both teams committed 13 turnovers, but it was the Oilers who turned those mistakes into 20 points while Tiffin converted the Oilers miscues into just 10 points.

Edmonds led the way for the Orange and Black, scoring 15 points on five made field goals including three from deep. He also tied for the team lead with seven rebounds. Senior Nathan Bruns also had seven rebounds and scored 14 points, had four assists, three steals, and three blocks.

Freshman Jagger Landers scored 14 points and had five rebounds while senior Deven Stover scored ten points, also had five rebounds, and added two steals, a block, and an assist.

For Tiffin, Wesley Jordan led the way with 20 points.

Findlay is back in action on Thursday, Dec. 15 when they travel to take on the Hillsdale College Chargers, currently ranked seventh in the country.
