Oilers Finish 2nd at Ohio Cup

Results

The University of Findlay men's golf team finished as the runner-up in the inaugural Ohio Cup, which was hosted by the Oilers and Tiffin University on Sep. 8 at Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio. The Oilers shot a 36-hole score of 590 (300, 290) during the lone day of the tournament in rainy conditions.

The University of Northwestern Ohio took the cup with a two-round score of 585 (302, 283). Ashland University finished behind the Oilers in third place with a score of

Junior Luke Kelly paced the Oilers and tied for second with a 2-over par score of 146 as he shot a 73 in each round. He was followed by freshman Tanner Grzegorczyk, who tied for sixth with a 147. Grzegorczyk posted a 78 in the opening round before coming back with a 3-under par score of 69 in round two.

Sophomore Parker Haynes tied for sixth as well with a 147 (74, 73) while freshman Hunter Foltz tied for 11th with a 148 (76, 72).

Junior Grant Ricketts tied for 17th with a 151 (76, 75), freshman Caleb Westfall tied for 21st with a 153 (77, 76) senior Dylan DeWitt tied for 21st with a 153 (78, 75) and junior Sam Griffith tied for 21st as well with a 153 (74, 79).

Sophomore Brock Kehres tied for 28th (79, 75 – 154), sophomore Grant Williams tied for 45th (80, 79 – 159), junior Cameron Bruce tied for 52nd (86, 77 – 164) and junior Drew Prater tied for 56th (81, 84 – 165).

The Oilers will be back in action again on Sep. 17-18 at the G-MAC Fall Invitational. The event will be held at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind.
