Westfall / Oilers Take Runner-Up at G-MAC Fall Invitational

Columbus, Ind. – After two days of competition, the University of Findlay men's golf team took second place at the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Fall Invite in Columbus, Ind. with a 54-hole score of 869 (+5), the second-best three-round total in school history. That score came on the heels of a pair of 285's in the final two rounds of the tournament, which are tied for the second-best 18-hole scores in conference history. Findlay, last year's G-MAC Fall Invite champion, finished just four shots behind Hillsdale College who shot a, 865.

Freshman Caleb Westfall was the top finisher for the Oilers and finished in a tie for second with a 213 (-3) after starting the final round in sixth. After a 72 in his first round and a 73 in the second, Westfall shot a career-best 68 (-4) to jump into second. Westfall eagled the par-five 14th hole and birdied both 16 and 17 to finish four under in his final five holes.

Finishing in a tie for eighth was junior Luke Kelly who jumped up two spots after a final round 72 (E) to finish the event with a 219 (+3). Close behind were junior Cameron Bruce and freshman Tanner Grzegorczyk who finished in T12 and T14, respectively. Bruce followed up a second-round 70 (-2) with a 75 (+3) to end with a 220 while Grzegorczyk, who fired a 68 (-4) in his second round, ended with a 74 (+2) to finish the tournament with a 221 (+5).

Freshman Hunter Foltz finished in T29 after posting his best round of the tournament in his third try. He shot a 71 (-1) to finish the Invite with a 229 (+13).

Findlay does not have much time off as they host the Doc Spragg Fall Invitational at the Findlay Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, Sep. 24-25.
