Junior Sam Griffith led the Oilers at the Kyle Ryman Invitational and earned medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 210, the lowest relative-to-par finish ever for a Findlay golfer. Griffith posted a pair of 69's in the first two rounds and then came back with an even-par 72 to finish the tournament at 6-under par.

The Oilers had two squads competing at the event, which wrapped up on Oct. 9 at the Mohawk Golf and Country Club in Tiffin, Ohio. The Oilers "A" team took second with a score of 873 (295, 291, 287), the third-lowest score in school history, while Findlay's "B" team finished fifth with an 890 (302, 292, 296). The 287 scored by the Oilers "A" team is the third-lowest 18-hole mark in program history.

While Griffith won the event with a remarkable performance, the Oilers also had several other golfers striking the ball well. Junior Luke Kelly finished third with a 4-under par score of 212 (73, 70, 69) while sophomore Parker Haynes finished fourth with an even-par 216 (73, 71, 72). The 4-under par score by Kelly is the third-best total in school history and the second-best mark relative-to-par, while the 216 carded by Haynes is the sixth-best performance at Findlay.

Freshman Hunter Foltz took 12th with a 222 (74, 75, 73), freshman Caleb Westfall finished in a tie for 13th with a 223 (75, 75, 73) and junior Cameron Bruce tied for 18th with a 225 (78, 70, 77) to round out the Oilers in the top-20.

The Oilers led the field with a total of 45 birdies and Griffith and Kelly ranked second among all competitors with 13 birdies apiece. Haynes recorded 10 birdies, the third-best total at the event.
