Oilers Shoot School Record in Round 1 at SVSU Spring Invite

Georgetown, Ky. – The University of Findlay men's golf team traveled to the Bluegrass State to take part in the SVSU Spring Invitational on Saturday, March 16 and currently sits in third place in a field loaded with some of the top talent in the Midwest Region. Findlay posted a school record 283 in the round, breaking the record of 284 which was accomplished at the Kyle Ryman in 2016 and the NCAA Regional in 2009.

Junior Luke Kelly was the Oilers' top scorer after posting a career-best 68 (-4) in the round. He is currently tied for first place with Bryce Messner of Grand Valley State, Jacob Plummer of Purdue-Northwest, and Austin Kondratick of Ashland.

Right behind Kelly is freshman Tanner Grzegorczyk who posted a 69 (-3) and is in a tie for fifth overall. Freshman Caleb Westfall shot a 71 (-1) on the first day and is tied for 15th overall and sophomore Parker Haynes is tied for 50th after shooting a 75 (+3).

Rounding out the scoring is senior Dylan DeWitt who shot a 78 (+5) in the first round.

The conclusion of the event will take place tomorrow, Sunday, March 17.
