Findlay Jumps Eight Spots on Final Day in Lexington

Lexington, Ky. - The University of Findlay men's golf team hosted the final day of the Findlay Spring Invite held at the University Club in Lexington, Ky. on Tuesday, March 26. The Oilers, who shot a 300 (+12) moved up eight spots into a tie for eighth after posting a 295 (+7) on the final day of the tournament.

The Oilers were led by freshman Tanner Grzegorczyk who posted a second round score of 71 (-1). His round included a birdie, an eagle, and 14 pars, nine of which came consecutively to end the round. Combined with his first round score of even par, Grzegorczyk, who led the field in par 4 scoring, finished the event in a tie for fifth with a two-round score of 143.

Junior Luke Kelly ended in a tie for 13th after shooting an even-par 72 in the final round. Kelly made eight birdies in the two rounds combined, second-most in the field, and ended the tournament with a score of 145.

Turning in a 153 (+9) was freshman Caleb Westfall who shot a 77 (+5) on the second day of competition while junior Sam Griffith posted a 75 (+3) on Tuesday to finish with a 155 (+11). Wesfall finished in a tie for 61st while Griffith ended in a tie for 80th.

Sophomore Parker Haynes finished in a tie for 99th after posting a pair of 79s in the tournament for a tournament score of 158 (+14)

Senior Dylan DeWitt and sophomore Brock Kehres competed as individuals in the tournament for the Oilers. DeWitt shot a tournament score of 156 (+12) to finish in a tie for 89th while Kehres had a two-round score of 158 (+14) to finish T99.

Findlay will be back on the course on Monday and Tuesday, April 1-2, when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. for the TNU Spring Invite.
