Oilers Fire School Record | Take 2nd in Nashville

The University of Findlay men's golf team made a great effort to get back in contention to win the Music City Invitational, but came up a stroke shy of Hillsdale College as the tournament wrapped up on April 2 in Nashville, Tenn. The Oilers fired a 5-under par score of 283 on day two, tied for the lowest score in school history, and ended the tournament with 5-under par score of 571 (288, 283). Their 36-hole score of 571 established a new school record, breaking the previous mark by five strokes.

Freshman Tanner Grzegorczyk led the Oilers as he finished in a tie for fifth place with a 3-under par score of 141. After shooting a 73 in the opening round, Grzegoczyk fired a 4-under par score of 68 in the second.

Juniors Luke Kelly and Sam Griffith tied for 15th with an even-par score of 144 as well. Kelly posted a 69 in the first round before shooting a 75 in the second while Griffith had a 75 in the first and a 69 in the second.

Freshman Caleb Westfall tied for 27th with a 148 (77, 71), senior Dylan DeWitt tied for 50th with a 151 (71, 80), and freshman Hunter Foltz tied for 57th with a 153 (78, 75).

The Oilers will be back in action again on April 7-9 at Purgatory in Noblesville, Ind.
