Findlay Finishes Runner-Up at Folds of Honor Challenge in Allendale

Allendale, Mich. – The University of Findlay men's golf team, ranked 24th in the country, competed on the final day of the Folds of Honor Challenge hosted at The Meadows in Allendale, Michigan on Tuesday, Oct. 4. After sitting in second overnight, the Oilers posted a final round 293 (+9) to finish runner-up with a 54-hole score of 869 (+17), 21 shots behind the tournament champion, Grand Valley State University but 25 shots ahead of third place South Carolina Beaufort and 26 shots ahead of the second-ranked team in Division II, Lee University.

Findlay's top finisher was senior Tanner Grzegorczyk who took fourth place in the individual standings. Entering the day at three-under, Grzegorczyk posted a final-round 73 (+2) to slide into fourth with a 54-hole score of 212 (-1).

The best round of the day for the Oilers came from senior Caleb Westfall who fired a final-round 71 (E) to end the event with a 216 (+3) and in solo possession of sixth place. Not far behind Westfall was senior Hunter Foltz who closed his day with an even-par 36 on his back nine to shoot 74 (+3). His score of 220 (+7) was good for a tie for seventh.

Junior Donnie Professori finished in a tie for 11th with a 223 (+10) after a roller coaster final round that saw him shoot 77 (+6). His round included five birdies, five pars, five bogeys, and three double-bogeys.

A final round 75 (+4) gave junior Justin Atkinson a 54-hole score of 231 (+18) for the event, putting him in a tie for 30th on the individual leaderboard.

Sophomore Tyler Vallee competed as an individual and finished in a tie for 43rd with a 236 (+23) after a final round 77 (+6).

Findlay is back at it on Oct. 24-25 when they head to Hickory, North Carolina for the Lenoir-Rhyne Fall Invitational.
