Oilers in Seventh at Lenoir-Rhyne Fall Invitational

Results

Hickory, North Carolina- The University of Findlay men's golf team traveled five-hundred miles south to the Lenoir-Rhyne Fall Invitational. Findlay completed day one today, Oct. 24 after 36-holes of play at Catawba Springs Golf Course. The Oilers finished day one with a 36-hole score of 601 (+25) and are currently in seventh place with rounds of 299 (+11) and 302 (+14). 

Leading the way for the Oilers was senior standout, Tanner Grzegorczyk. Grzegorczyk, who is ranked seventh in Division II per Golfstat, is in a tie for fourth at two-under par (142). After a first round 73 (+1), which started with a double followed by a bogey, Grzegorczyk was able to make three consecutive birdies to bounce back to even-par. He would make one more birdie on the front nine before making two bogeys down the stretch. In his second round, he carded four birdies and one bogey for a 69 (-3). Grzegorczyk trails the leader by three heading into the final round.

Assisting Grzegorczyk, was junior Donnie Professori. Professori recorded a 36-hole total of 148 (+4). His round of 72 (E) and 76 (+4) put him in a tie for twelfth. Following Professori was senior Hunter Foltz. Foltz recorded rounds of 77 (+5) and 77 (+5) for a 154 (+10) and in a tie for 38th. Caleb Westfall carded rounds of 78 (+6) and 80 (+8) for a 158 (+14) and is in a tie for 58th. Rounding out the lineup for the Oilers is sophomore Jon Green. Green recorded a 36-hole total of 162 (+18) with rounds of 77 (+5) and 85 (+13). He is in a tie for 69th.

Competing as individuals in the event were senior Jack Soper and sophomore Tyler Vallee. They both finished at 149 (+5) for the day. Soper recorded rounds of 75 (+3) and 74 (+2). Vallee meanwhile recorded rounds of 73 (+1) and 76 (+4). They are both in a tie for 17th.

The Oilers will be back for the final round tomorrow, Oct. 25th as they look to catch the leader, Lander University.
