Oilers Drop Match at Tiffin

Tiffin, OH – The University of Findlay men's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest in a 2-1 final at Tiffin University on Wednesday, October 11. The loss drops the Oilers to 9-3 (8-2) record, while Tiffin improves to a 6-4-3 overall record.

The Oilers went down 1-0 early in the match when a Tiffin scorer dribbled to the top of the box and found the right side of the net.

Findlay junior Josh Burton tied the match for the Oilers in the 40th minute on a 3-on-1 breakaway goal. Freshman Alex Kerstetter was credited with the assist on the score. Burton's goal was his ninth of the season and tied the match 1-1 heading into halftime.

The Dragons gained the lead in the 73rd minute on another goal scored from the top of the box, and the Oilers were not able to even the score during the last 17 minutes. The Dragons out-shot the Oilers 12 shots to 5 in the second half and attempted three corner kicks to Findlay's one.

The Oilers fired off four shots on goal during the contest, three of which came from the foot of Burton.

Findlay will continue Great Midwest play on Saturday, October 14 when they travel to take on the Lake Erie College Storm. The contest is set to begin at 3:00 PM.
