Oilers Fall 2-1 to ODU

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay men's soccer team fell to the Ohio Dominican Panthers on Tuesday, October 24 in a Great Midwest matchup. The loss drops the Oilers to a 12-5 overall record and 11-3 in G-MAC play. The Panthers move to 8-8 overall and 7-7 in the conference.

The Panthers got off to a strong start, scoring in the 12th and 14th minutes to have the 2-0 lead with more than half of the first period remaining.

With less than four minutes in the half, junior Josh Burton beat the Ohio Dominican goalie to cut the Panther lead to 2-1. This was Burton's 12th of the season and junior Connor Lynch was credited with the assist on the goal.

Findlay had six shots with five on goal to the Panthers 10 shots and four on goal for the half.

The second half proved to be a stalemate, with neither team able to find the back of the net.

The Oilers had their chances, adding on six shots on goal during the second period. Findlay also had five corner kick opportunities in the half.

The Panther's held strong against Findlay's offensive effort, earning the eventual 2-1 decision.

Leading the shots on goal category were Burton and sophomore Alex Kerstetter, each with three on the day.

The Oilers will host a G-MAC quarterfinal game this Saturday, October 28 at DeHaven Field. The tournament game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM.
