Oilers Claim their First Win against Lake Erie Storm

Painesville, OH – The University of Findlay men's soccer team faced the Lake Erie College Storm in a conference game match up on Saturday, September 8 at 4:00 PM. The Oilers captured their first win of the season with a final score of 2-1. This improves their record to 1-3-0 with a 1-0 record in conference play. The Storm are now 3-2-0 with a conference record of 1-2-0.

In the first period of the game the Storm outshot the Oilers 7-3. No goals were scored in the first half, but the Storm looked to be getting more scoring opportunities. It wasn't until the second period where Findlay put one on the board with a goal in the 60th minute by freshman Joey Buscani. The Storm rallied back with a goal in the 83rd minute by Amoshi Loni to tie the game at 1-1. With only minutes remaining in the game, sophomore Jack Atkinson was able find freshman Taylor Miles to score and take the lead.

While the Storm outshot the Oilers again in the second half 7-3, the Oilers were able to capitalize on their shots to finish with a win. Senior Nathan Sier was in goal for Findlay and was able to pick up 4 saves.

The Oilers will be back on the road once again on Thursday, September 13 to face Kentucky Wesleyan. The G-MAC conference matchup is set to begin at 8:30 PM.
