Oilers Beat Kentucky Wesleyan, 4-1

Owensboro, KY – The University of Findlay men's soccer team continues the season with their fifth road game in a row at Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday, September 13 at 8:30 PM. The Oilers came out with their second win of the season with a final score of 4-1. The win gives Findlay a 2-3 record on the season with a conference record of 2-0. The loss for the Panthers gives them a season record of 2-3 with a 0-2 record in conference play.

The Oilers came out strong by putting one in the back of the net within the first three minutes of the match. Senior Josh Burton assisted freshman Taylor Miles to put the Oilers ahead 1-0. The Oilers continued to attack the Panther's net, shooting 10 times in just the first period. Findlay led 1-0 at the half despite the team's great shooting effort.

In the second period, the Oilers didn't back down and took 16 more shots during the game. Junior Josh Dickinson found freshman Matthew Spangler in the 52nd minute to increase the lead for the Oilers, making the score 2-0. However, the Panthers struck back, scoring in the 58th minute to cut the lead by 1.

The Oilers continued to pressure the Panthers defense and this time Matthew Spangler was able to find teammate Josh Burton open for a goal. Findlay was leading 3-1 until the 84th minute when they tacked on another goal. This time sophomore Josh Hales was able to assist freshman Joey Buscani to finish out the game with a final score of 4-1.

The Oilers will be on the road again on Saturday, September 15 at Trevecca Nazarene at 4:30 PM.
