Two First Half Goals Push Oilers Past Malone 2-1

Canton, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's soccer team went up against Malone University in a conference contest on Thursday, October 31. The Oilers were able to score their two goals in the first half to hold off the Pioneers on the road, 2-1. With the victory, the Oilers improve to 9-5-1 (6-5-1).

The Oilers took a first half of scoring their two goals to position themselves for the rest of the game. Starting with junior Josh Hales in the 26th minute, Hales put one to the back of the net to gain the advantage, 1-0. Not too long after Hales' goal, senior Kegan Winkler kicked another through off the assist from senior Josh Dickinson in the 30th minute.

The Oilers were unable to score throughout the rest of the half, but stayed strong with their defensive play to get the road victory. Despite a lone Pioneer goal by Austin Coldsnow, the Oilers prevailed to a 2-1 win.

In the shots taken category, the Oilers won the margin by a 12-7 mark and an 8-4 mark for shots on goal. Dickinson led the Oilers with four shots taken, and Winkler had a pair of shots. Garrett Arborgast received the win protecting the goal for the Oilers including three saves

The next game for the Oilers is scheduled to be played on Saturday, November 2 at Walsh University for another Great Midwest Athletic Conference game. The start time is slated for a 1:00 p.m.
