Canton, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's soccer team traveled to Canton to take on the Malone University Pioneers for their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) contest of the year on Thursday, Sept 8.
Findlay started the contest off with an early 16th minute goal from senior David Hug, last weeks G-MAC Player of the week, from an assist from fellow senior Bjoern Gilles to give them a 1-0 lead. This is Hug's fourth goal of the season.
The Oilers added to their lead right after halftime in the 46th minute when sophomore Christian Palushaj scored off an assist from junior Mitchell Hanosh.
Senior Andrew Boulton started in goal for the Oilers and would record the shutout with two saves.
With the win Findlay moves to 2-1 on the year and starts out 1-0 in conference play. The Oilers will be back on the pitch Saturday, Sept. 10 when they travel to Ashland to take on the Ashland University Eagles at 6:30pm.
