Electric First Half Pushes Oilers Past Panthers

Findlay, OH- The University of Findlay Men's Soccer team took on the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers at home on Saturday Oct 15. The Oilers looked to advance their 7-5-1 overall record and their 5-4-1 record in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. 

The Oilers offense was clocking on all cylinders in the first half as they put up 4 goals.  

The first goal of the game came off the foot of sophomore Brendan Ash in the 2nd minute of play. Junior Nick McCracken recorded the assist on the play.  

Junior Payton Trask gave the Oilers a 2-0 lead in the 27th minute of play on an unassisted goal.  

Sophomore Christian Palushaj got in on the scoring action in the 40th minute of play, scoring off an assist from freshmen Adam Boone. 

Senior Bjoern Gilles rounded out the scoring in the first half of play with a goal in the 41st minute off an assist from Ash. 

The Panthers would score on a penalty kick late in the second half of play but could not manage to find the net any other times.  

Sophomore Nathan Smith started in goal for the Oilers and would record 1 save. Senior Julio Gomes would complete the second 45 minutes in the goal for the Oilers and would record 2 saves 

With the win the Oilers moved to 8-5-1 on the season and 6-4-2 in the G-MAC with only 2 weeks remaining in the regular season. Findlay will be back on the field on Tuesday Oct 18 as they finish their game against the Northwood Timberwolves.
