Slavov Wins Title at Ashland

The University of Findlay men's tennis team wrapped up the second day of competition at the Spreng-Smith Invitational in Ashland, Ohio on Oct. 12.

Ivaylo Slavov won the C singles title by going 3-0. He won the championship with a 6-1, 3-6, 10-5 win over Ashland's Terence Tche in the finals. Mark Ivanov also competed in the bracket, finishing with a 1-1 mark.

Alfredo Berlango finished fourth in B singles with a 1-2 record and Andrew Codita won seventh place with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Charleston's Jason Prince and finished the tournament with a 1-2 record after losing 6-3, 6-3 to Charleston's Alex Martinez in the third place match.

Soh Kuyama and Mark Ivanov lost 6-4 to Charleston's Ben Lakeman and Joao Tayar in the finals of the A doubles. They finished the tournament with a 2-1 record. Jorge Barnuevo and Alfredo Berlanga made their way through the consolation bracket and claimed a 7-6 win over Ashland's Priyank Soni and Jordan Phelps to claim fifth place. They finished with a 2-1 record in A doubles.

In B doubles, Ivaylo Slavov and Andrew Codita won the B doubles bracket with a 6-4 win over Ashland's Hung Huynh and Terence Tche. They finished the tournament with a 3-0 mark.
