Kuyama and Alvarado Earn Athlete of the Week

Findlay, Ohio - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) has named their Tennis Athletes of the Week on Wednesday, March 11. Findlay swept the honor as freshman Soh Kuyama won on the men's side while Laiying Alvarado won on the women's side.

Over spring break, Kuyama finished a perfect 4-0 in singles competition, including a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles against Adrian College. Later in the week, he earned a three-set win against Eckerd at second singles before taking down Concordia N.Y.'s top singles player, again in three sets. Kuyama wrapped up his week with a win against Southern New Hampshire.

On the women's side, Alvarado also finished a perfect 3-0 in singles competition that included a win over one of the top singles players in the country. She started the week with a win over Davis & Elkins and, after playing only in doubles against Adrian College and earning a win there, came back to take on the 32nd ranked player in the country in Concordia N.Y.'s Ebba Rosberg. Alvarado won that match 6-4, 6-3. She ended her week with a win against the 50th ranked singles player in the country, Maggie Hubickova of Southern New Hampshire, by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
