Oilers Split on Saturday

Rosemont, Ill. – The University of Findlay softball team traveled to compete against Lewis and Winona St. on February 23. The Oilers won their first game 5-4 against Flyers and fell in the second game versus 0-1 to the Warriors. The split improved Findlay's record to 3-3 on the season.

In the first game of the day, sophomore Devy Zuro went 2-for-3 at the plate, recorded one RBI, and scored two runs. Senior Salwa Al-Hajabed went 1-for-3 and had two runs batted in, while junior Allison Brunner went 1-for-4 and scored one run. Freshman Madelyn Turner and freshman Caroline Turner each also scored a run for the Oilers.

Sophomore Caragyn Yanek started in the circle for Findlay and pitched four innings. She had two strikeouts, walked three players, and allowed six hits and four runs.  

Senior Hailey Bryan finished the game for the Oilers, pitching three innings, with four strikeouts and only allowing two hits.

The Oilers fell in game two, struggling to get many hits in a defensive battle. Brunner and Al-Hajabed both went 1-for-2 at the plate.

Bryan started out pitching for the Oilers. In four innings of work, she allowed one run on six hits. She also struck out one batter.

Freshman Carly Brandon pitched two innings, recording two strikeouts and only allowing one hit.

The Oilers are back in action on March 2 in Clermont, Fla. where they will face Western Oregon And West Virginia Wesleyan for a double header starting at 9am.
