Findlay Splits on Sunday in Florida

Clermont, Fla. – The University of Findlay softball team traveled to Florida to compete against Georgian Court and Mercyhurst on March 3. The Oilers dropped their first game 4-1 against Lions but came back to dominate the Lakers 11-2 in game two. The split improved Findlay's record to 4-6 on the season.

Freshman Alyssa Laisure went 1 for 2 in game one, and recorded the only hit for the Oilers.

Sophomore Dylan Wiley and senior Amanda Delmonte both went 1 for 4 behind the plate against the Lions, and Wiley recorded one RBI.

Sophomore Caragyn Yanek started in the circle for Findlay, and pitched two innings, allowing five hits and four runs.

Sophomore Megan Fisher finished the game for the Oilers, pitching four innings, striking out six batters, and allowing no runs and only one hit.

The Oilers finished out the day with a strong win over the Lakers. Senior Salwa Al-Hajabed lead the Oilers behind the plate, by recording two hits for her three at bats. Al-Hajabed batted in three runners and record two runs.

Delmonte went 1 for 1, and recorded two RBIs, while Wiley went 1 for 2 and junior Emily Barr went 1 for 3 to each record two runs in the win.

Junior Allison Brunner, junior Rebecca Harvey, and freshman Madelyn Turner were all 1 for 2 behind the plate and each recorded one run.

Senior Hailey Bryan pitched all five innings for the Oilers, recording one strikeout, no errors, and allowing seven hits.

The Oilers are back in action on March 5 in Osceola, Fla. where they will face Ashland and Gannon for a double header starting at 11:15am.
