Oilers take Two from Malone | Extend Winning Streak to 13

Findlay, OH- The University of Findlay softball team started a 4-gamer series at home against Malone University. Findlay would look to improve on a 25-9 overall record and a 9-1 G-MAC (Great Midwest Athletic Conference) record. 

Findlay started the scoring off in the bottom of the first as sophomore Avery Shepherd scored when senior Megan Demler reached on an error. Later in the inning senior Caroline Turner would send a ball deep over the left field fence to score Demler and senior Lexie Hilling. Senior Kyla Snow would join the hit parade with a double to deep right center to bring freshmen Brooke Radermacher to give Findlay an early 5-0 lead.  

Malone would respond with 2 runs of their own in the top of the 2nd inning to bring the score back to 5-2. 

Findlay would take a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Snow would score Hilling on an RBI groundout to first base. 

 In the bottom of the 4th Findlay would put up 3 runs. Radermacher would start the scoring off with an RBI double scoring freshmen Alissa Davis. Snow would follow that up with a sac fly to center field that brought home junior Rylee Combs. To round up the scoring for the inning, senior Devyn Zuro would bring home Radermacher to give Findlay a 9-2 lead. 

A grand slam in the bottom of the 5th by Radermacher scored Hilling, Turner, and freshmen Rachel Mease to give Findlay the run rule win in 5 innings.  

Senior Megan Demler started in the circle for Findlay throwing all 5 innings allowing only 2 earned runs and striking out 5 batters while picking up her 11th win of the season. 

Findlay started the scoring in game two with a two out two RBI double by sophomore Kaitlynn Briggs that brought both Turner and junior Olivia Carlton to give Findlay a 2-0 lead. 

Radermacher would put the Oilers even further ahead in the 4th inning with a two-run homerun to left center that scored senior Savanah Harvey. Shortly after, senior Bailey Bates would drive home Combs to put Findlay up by 4. Shepherd would match Radermacher with a two-run homerun of her own later in the inning to score Bates and give Findlay a 7-1 lead after 4 innings. 

Freshmen Emma Jones would start in the circle for the Oilers. Jones would throw 5 innings allowing two earned runs while striking out 7 batters and picking up the win. Hilling would come into pitch in relief throwing the last two innings, allowing no runs. 

The Oilers will be back on the diamond on Saturday Apr 16 at the Cube as they take on the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans starting at 1 PM.
