Oilers Fall to Lakers in Regional Final

Indianapolis, Ind. - The University of Findlay softball team saw their incredible season come to an end in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional final as Grand Valley State University defeated the Oilers by a score of 15-1 on May 14 in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Lakers jumped on the Oilers early, scoring three runs in the first, before tallying ten in the third inning and another two in the fourth. In the end, Grand Valley State scored 15 runs on 18 hits while the Oilers plated one run on one hit to go along with three errors.

Senior Megan Demler took the loss after allowing three runs in 1.2 innings of action. Senior Lexie Hilling allowed six runs, only four earned, in 2.0 innings while freshman Emma Jones allowed four runs without recording an out. Junior McKenzie Anderson also saw time in the circle and allowed two runs in 1.1 innings of work.

Senior Devyn Zuro had the Oilers lone hit, a single that plated senior Caroline Turner.

The Oilers finish the 2022 campaign with a school record 38-16 record. They established new school records for runs scored (319), hits (457), doubles (96), home runs (46), and runs batted in (287).
