Women Defeat Hillsdale | Lewis

Results

Hillsdale, MI – The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams competed in a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 10 against Hillsdale College and Lewis University. The Oilers had a great day in the pool, with the women outscoring both Hillsdale and Lewis 191 points to 88 and 187 to 91 respectively. The men fell to Lewis 201 to 90.

Women's Results

The women proved to be the dominate team in the pool, winning 11 events on the day.

The Oilers started out strong with a win in the first event of the day in the 200 yard medley. The medley team consisted of Chris McFarland, Kristinia Coleman, Katy Kouvaris, and Kendra Polewski with a final time of 1:49.44.

Amanda Stiegal came in first in the 200 yard freestyle with a finishing time of 1:59.49. She also finished first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.06.

In the 50 yard backstroke, Chris McFarland finished in first place with a time of 27.15. She also won the 100 yard freestyle with a finishing time of 53.56.

Katy Kouvaris swam the 200 yard butterfly and clinched first place with just 0.17 seconds to spare over Hillsdale. Her final time was 2:13.75.

Alicia Solis had a great day diving, finishing first in both the 1 meter and 3 meter events with scores of 192.20 and 211.35 respectively.  

Hanna Cederholm finished first place way ahead of the competition in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.56. She also won the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:12.10.

The Oilers finished the night with another relay win, this time in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team for this relay consisted of Amanda Stiegal, Chris McFarland, Julia Snell, and Kendra Polewski.

Men's Results

Dalton Shevlin came in first in both the 1 and 3 meter diving events with scores of 225.40 and 240.10 respectively.

 

The Oilers will be back in the pool on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Calvin Winter Invite in Grand Rapids, Michigan at 1:00 PM.
