Oilers Complete Day 1 of Calvin Invite

Results

Grand Rapids, MI – The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams competed in the first day of the Calvin College Invitational on Thursday, November 29. They are competing against Grand Valley State University, Northern Michigan University, Calvin College, Indiana Wesleyan University, Kalamazoo College, and Grove City College.

Women's Results

The women are in fourth place after day one and two events with 144 points.

The first event of the night was the 800 yard free relay. The Oilers finished in fourth place with a final time of 7:43.74. The relay team consisted of Chris MacFarland, Amanda Stiegal, Taylor Christensen, and Kendra Polewski. Julia Snell, Jenna Dasher, Katy Kouvaris, and Ashton Klopp finished in eighth with a time of 7:57.15. In 11th place, with a final time of 8:04.81, was the relay team consisting of Payton Zess, Colleen Hoke, Murphy Vance and Sydney Zimdars.

In the 1650 yard free, Sydney Zimdars led the Oilers by finishing in fifth place with a time of 17:52.85. Coming in behind her was teammate Murphy Vance, who finished in 10th place with a time of 18:21.16.

Men's Results

At the end of day one, the men sit in sixth place with 94 points.

Alex Matthews led the Oilers in the 1650 yard free, finishing in 11th place with a time of 16:56.19.

In the 800 yard free relay, the Oilers came in 10th with a time of 7:03.26 with a relay team consisting of Trent Williams, Nathan Bourne, Trae Gulgin, and Mark Billeaud. Another relay team finished in 13th with a time of 7:11.52. The team consisted of Tyler Endecott, Tucker Stocker, Jared Toaz, and Alex Matthews.

The Oilers will be competing at day 2 of the Calvin College Invitational on Friday, November 30 at 10:00 AM.
