Swimming & Diving Opens Up Season at Northern Michigan
Marquette, Mich. – The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving team opened up their marathon season with their first competition of the year, a sprint meet at Northern Michigan on Friday, Oct. 11. The Oilers' men and women both lost their dual against the Wildcats, the men by a score of 153-101 and the women by a score of 169-85.
Men
On the men's side, the Oilers earned first place finishes in five of the 28 events that were scored.
In the 125-yard medley relay, Findlay freshman Jaeger Loran, senior Isaac Stretch, freshman Colin Martin, and senior Trent Williams teamed up to take first with a time of 54.72. Loran also earned wins in the 25-yard backstroke, where he out touched the field with a time of 11.75, and the 75-yard backstroke, where he won with a time of 38.77.
Martin, competing in the 125-yard IM against a field comprising of three of his Oilers' teammates, won by nearly four seconds with a time of 1:08.76.
Freshman Tim Stollings earned nine points for the Oilers winning the 75-yard butterfly with a time of 37.17.
Women
Sophomore Kristina Coleman earned a top finish for the Oilers in the 25-yard breaststroke where she finished in a time of 13.91, more than a half second faster than the second place finisher.
Returning to the pool for another year after is senior Hanna Cedarholm, whose resume is as impressive as any swimmer in school history. Cedarholm won the 75-yard breaststroke with a time of 47.97. She also took first in the 125 yard IM, beating the field by three seconds and touching the wall in 1:17.55.
Findlay will jump back in the pool tomorrow morning when they again take on Northern Michigan.
