Day 1 at Davenport Comes to a Close

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving team completed the first day at the Davenport Quad on Nov. 1 in Grand Rapids, Mich. Both teams are in second place as the women scored 273 points, four off the lead, and the men recorded 278.

On the women's side, the Oilers 200-yard freestyle relay team of Chris McFarland, Kristina Coleman, Rachel Poling, and Hanna Cederholm finished first with a time of 1:38.62. Their 400-yard medley relay team of Payton Zess, Cederholm, Katy Kouvaris, and Megan Irwin also won after crossing the line in 4:00.72.

Irwin added a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:13.46 while Coleman took second overall and first against Davenport and Hope in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.01. Cederholm was third overall in the 200-yard IM at 2:12.14 and won against Kalamazoo.

On the men's side, the Oilers 400-yard medley relay team of Tim Stollings, Isaac Stretch, Colin Martin, and Trent Williams was first with a time of 3:31.38 while Jared Toaz and Martin also took second in their respective individual events. Toaz was second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.66 winning over Hope, while Martin swam a time of 21.65 in the 50-yard freestyle and won over Kalamazoo.

The second day of competition will take place tomorrow.
