Oilers Complete Day One in Detroit

Results

Detroit, Mich.- The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams traveled north to take on GLIAC foes Wayne State and Northern Michigan. They completed day one of the event today, Friday, Nov. 4. The men are in first while the women are in third. 

 

Women

In the 200-yard medley relay, Sasha Melnyk, Katie Susi, Macy May and Ella Hochstetler took fourth place with a final time of 1:49.68 while Mille Berg, Rachel Poling, Sydney Jones and Troie Grubbs took seventh with a time of 1:52.36.

In the 50-yard butterfly, Macy May tied for fourth place with a time of 26.89, Gwyneth Payton took seventh place with a time of 27.48, Sydney Jones took eighth place with a time of 27.81 and Jessie Schelin snagged tenth with a final time of 28.24.  

Sasha Melnyk took second place with a time of 27.29 in the 50-yard backstroke.

The 50-yard breaststroke saw Katie Susi take third with a time of 31.12.

In the women's 50-yard freestyle, Troie Grubbs clocked 25.10 which was enough to get her the final place in the top five.

Sasha Melnyk took third place with a final time of 27.08 and Ella Hochstetler took fifth with a time of 27.95 both in the 50-yard backstroke.

In the 50-yard breaststroke, on the women's side, Katie Susi took bronze with a final time of 31.16. Katie Susi secured bronze with a time of 30.84 in the same event.

 

Men

In the men's 200-yard medley relay, Tim Stollings, Juan Ruiz, Camilo Marrugo and Dags Bregis took gold with a time of 1:30.86. Bronze went to Randy Keener, Luca Chiandussi, Zein Kawas and Angel Margaritov with a time of 1:34.09.  

In the men's 50-yard butterfly, Tim Stollings took second place with a time of 22.76 and Dags Bregis took fifth place with a time of 23.67.  

Randy Keener took first in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 23.83.

The 50-yard breaststroke was led by the Oilers as Luca Chiandussi secured first with a time of 25.79 while Brandon Moran, with a time of 26.86, took third.  

Camilo Marrugo placed second with a time of 20.70 in the 50-yard freestyle and Angel Margaritov placed fifth with a time of 21.92.  

In the 50-yard butterfly, Tim Stolllings secured his second bronze of the night with a time of 22.54.  Dags Bregis timed in at 23.00 taking third.  

Randy Keener took first with a time of 23.74 and Marko Priendnieks took fifth with a time of 24.68 in the 50-yard backstroke.

Luca Chiandussi took first with a time of 26.15 and Brandon Moran came in third with a time of 26.97 in the 50-yard breaststroke.

Camilo Marrugo took second place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.67 while Angel Margaritov took fourth place with a time of 21.85.  

In the 50-yard breaststroke Luca Chiandussi took first place with a time of 25.64.  

The Oilers succeeded in the 100-yard IM, by securing the top three spots. Juan Ruiz took first with a time of 51.35, Adam Hornak took second with a time of 52.84 and Aiden Shue took third with a time of 53.87.  

 

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow, Nov. 5 for day two of the event which is scheduled to start at 10am.
