Findlay Track Competes at Conference Crossover
The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams competed at the 2019 Hillsdale Conference Crossover in Hillsdale, Mich. on January 18. The men's team took first place with 183 points and women's team finished second with 150 points.
Men
In the men's pole vault, sophomore Gabe Makin took first place with a provisional qualifying vault of 4.88m (16-00.00).
The Oiler men earned the top two spots in the men's shot put. Senior Austin Combs threw for 17.85m (58-06.75) to take first place while senior Dequan Lovell threw for 16.81m (55-02.00) to place second. Both of Combs' and Lovell's throws hit provisional qualifying marks.
Sophomore Martin Etsey earned first place in the men's triple jump with a distance of 14.07m (46-02.00).
Combs and Lovell each also had provisional qualifying throws and the top two finishes in the men's weight throw. Combs placed first after throwing for 20.21m (66-03.75) and Lovell took second with a distance of 18.38m (60-03.75).
In the men's 400 meter dash, freshman Xavier Marable ran a provisional qualifying time of 49.32 to finish first.
Sophomore Seth Saylor ran a 58.83 in men's 400 meter hurdles to take first place.
In the men's 3000 meter run, senior Michael Taylor earned first place with a time of 9:06.68.
Freshman Justin Dreyling jumped for 6.83m (22-05.00) in the men's long jump to take second place.
In the men's 60 meter hurdles, freshman Josh Steinbrunner ran a 8.54 to finish second.
Women
Freshman Meadow Cromer took first place in the women's pole vault after vaulting for 3.27m (10-08.75).
In the women's weight throw, junior Hannah Hahler took first place by throwing for a distance of 15.13m (49-07.75).
Junior Jenna Shipman ran a 59.72 to take first in the women's 400 meter dash.
In the women's 800 meter run, freshman Hayley Robinett finished first with a time of 2:17.97.
Senior Torrie Purdy ran a 11:22.86 in the women's 3000 meter run to earn first place.
In women's shot put, Hahler finished second with a provisional qualifying distance of 13.83m (45-04.50).
