Oilers Finish Day 1 of Alumni Classic

Results

The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams completed day one of the 2019 Findlay Alumni Classic & Elite Throws on January 25 in the Malcolm Athletic Center.

Men

Junior Eldred Henry had an automatic qualifying throw of 18.95m (62-02.25) to take first place in the men's shot put elite, while two other Oiler men hit provisional qualifying marks. Senior Austin Combs came in third place with a distance of 17.91 (58-09.25), and senior Dequan Lovell threw for 16.26m (53-04.25) to take sixth.

In the men's pole vault, sophomore Gabe Makin earned first place with a provisional qualifying vault of 4.73m (15-06.25), while freshman Ryan Stevens vaulted for 4.43m (14-06.25) to finish third.

Junior Javian Martin earned first place in the men's shot put open by throwing for a distance of 14.98m (49-01.75).

The Oiler men had the top two finishes in the men's 5000 meter run. Senior Jonathan Allen took first place with a time of 15:02.02, while junior Ty Gleason followed close behind in second place with a time of 15:37.27.

Women

Freshman Gabrielle Lawrence earned first place in the women's 5000 meter run with a time of 18:22.75.

In the women's pole vault, freshman Meadow Cromer took second place with a provisional qualifying vault of 3.57m (11-08.50).

Junior Hannah Hahler hit a provisional qualifying mark in the women's shot put elite by throwing for 13.92m (45-08.00) to take third place.
