Oilers Finish Strong at Alumni Classic

Results

The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams completed day two of the 2019 Findlay Alumni Classic & Elite Throws on January 26 in the Malcolm Athletic Center.

Men

Freshman Justin Dreyling took first in the men's long jump with a provisional qualifying jump of 7.20m (23-07.50). Sophomore Martin Etsey jumped for a distance of 6.95m (22-09.75) to place third in the event.

In the men's 60 meter dash, sophomore Jacob Hill ran a 6.96 to take first place.

The Oilers claimed the top four finished in the men's 400 meter dash.   Freshman Xavier Marable ran a 49.37 to earn first place, while freshman Lane Kolb ran a 52.55 to take second, and sophomore Set Saylor ran a 52.77, and senior Zack Jellison ran a 52.83 to finished third and fourth respectively.

Etsey placed first in the men's triple jump with a provisional qualifying distance of 14.87m (48-09.50). Dreyling finished second in the event, jumping for 13.93 m (45-08.50).

In the men's 200 meter dash, freshman Ethan Pensante ran a 23.21 to earn second place, while Jellison came in close behind to take third with a time of 23.52.

Junior Lenell Shelby III earned first place in the men's 60 meter hurdles by running an 8.23, while freshman Josh Steinbrunner ran an 8.40 to place second.

In the men's 800 meter run sophomore Daniel Agbola ran a 1:59.75 to take second place.

The men's 4x400 meter relay team placed first in their event. Shelby, Kolb, Pensante, and Marable ran a 3:22.80 collectively.

In the men's weight throw elite, senior Austin Combs hit a provisional qualifying mark with his , 20.32m (66-08.00) throw to take second place, while senior Dequan Lovell placed third with a provisional qualifying throw of 18.81m (61-08.50).

Women

Junior Jenna Shipman took first in the women's long jump, jumping for a distance of 5.47m (17-11.50).

The Oiler women earned the top two finishes in the women's 400 meter dash. Junior Semoy Hemmings ran a 58.42 to take first place, while freshman Hayley Robinett ran a 1:00.38 to earn second.

The women's 4x400 meter relay team also finished first in their event.  Shipman, junior Aubreah Manns, Robinett, and Hemmings ran a 4:00.27 collectively.
