Oilers Compete at Akron Invitational
The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams competed at the 15th Annual Akron Invitational today on February 2 in Akron, Ohio.
Men
In the men's pole vault blue division, sophomore Gabe Makin had a provisional qualifying vault of 4.75m (15-07.00) to take first place.
Senior Austin Combs claimed first place Men's weight throw gold division with a provisional throw of 20.62m (67-08.00). Senior Dequan Lovell threw for 18.23m (59-09.75) in the event to take fifth place, and junior Eldred Henry came in sixth with a distance of 18.08m (59-04.00). All three throwers hit provisional qualifying marks.
In the men's shot put gold division, junior Eldred Henry came in first place with an automatic qualifying throw of 18.89m (61-11.75).
Sophomore Martin Etsey jumped for 15.44m (50-08.00) in men's triple jump gold division to earn first place and hit a provisional qualifying mark.
In the men's 400 meter dash gold division, freshman Xavier Marable ran a 48.71 to take first place.
Sophomore Daniel Agbola ran a 1:54.76 to earn third place in the men's 800 meter run gold division.
In the men's weight throw blue division, junior Javian Martin threw for 16.15m (53-00.00) to place fourth.
Martin placed fifth in the men's shot put with a 14.57m (47-09.75) throw.
Freshman Justin Dreyling took fourth in the men' long jump gold division with a 6.95m (22-09.75) jump.
In the men's 60 meter hurdles blue division, junior Lenell Shelby III ran a 8.24 to finish fourth.
The Oiler men placed fifth in the men's 1600 meter relay gold division. Shelby III, Kolb, Pensante, Marable, Agbola collectively ran a 3:23.35.
Women
In the women's shot put gold division, junior Hannah Hahler took fifth place with a provisional qualifying distance of 14.28m (46-10.25).
