Findlay Competes at Flag City Open

Results

The University of Findlay men's and women's track teams competed at the Flag City Open on February 16 in Findlay, Ohio.

Men

The Oilers claimed the top four finishes in the men's weight throw.  Senior Austin Combs placed first with an automatic qualifying throw of 21.71m (71-02.75). His throw is the best in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) history. Junior Eldred Henry earned second place with a provisional qualifying throw of 18.71m (61-04.75). Senior Dequan Lovell and junior Javian Martin threw for 18.70m (61-04.25) and junior Javian Martin 17.73m (58-02.00) to hit provisional qualifying marks and earn third and fourth place respectively.

In the men's long jump freshman Justin Dreyling took first place with a 6.82m (22-04.50) jump.

Freshman Josh Steinbrunner earned first place in the men's high jump with a height of 1.83m (6-00.00).

In the men's pole vault sophomore Gabe Makin hit a provisional qualifying mark and earned first place with a height of 4.75m (15-07.00).

Junior Lenell Shelby III took first in the men's 60 meter hurdles with a provisional qualifying time of 8.17. Freshman Josh Steinbrunner placed second in the event with a time of 8.45.

The Oilers were the first three finishers in the men's 60 meter dash. Sophomore Jacob Hill  ran a 6.94 to take first, while freshman Ja'Quan Buffaloe ran a 7.07 and senior Zack Jellison ran a  7.14 to take secnd and third place resepectively.

In the men's 800 meter run, sophomore Jack Adams placed first with a time of 1:59.78, while    sophomore Daniel Agbola ran a 2:00.23 to take third.

Freshman Dylan Hunter ran a 18:11.70 in the men's 5000 meter run to finish second.

In the men's 1 mile run, sophomore Jack Adams placed third with a time of 4:28.87.

Junior Javian Martin took third in the men's shot put with a distance of 14.49m (47-06.50).

Women

In the women's pole vault, freshman Meadow Cromer placed first with a provisional qualifying vault of 3.66m (12-00.00).

Junior Hannah Hahler threw for 15.32m (50-03.25) to earn second place in the women's weight throw, while senior Megan Lyons threw for 14.47m (47-05.75) to take fourth.

In the women's shot put Hahler had a provisional qualifying distance 14.10m (46-03.25) to earn second.

Junior Jenna Shipman placed second in the women's 60 meter dash with a time of 7.98.

In the women's 60 meter hurdles, 3 freshman Carlee McCluer ran a 9.59 to take third.

Sophomore Mia Johnson jumped for 9.92m (32-06.50) in the women's triple jump to finish third.

In the women's 1 mile run, freshman Gabrielle Lawrence ran a 5:26.75 to take fourth and senior Torrie Purdy ran a 5:27.44 to take fifth.
