Oilers Finish Runner-Up at Hillsdale Tri-Meet

Results 

The University of Findlay men and women's track teams competed against Ashland University and Hillsdale College on Jan. 22 in Hillsdale, Mich. The women's standings ended with Hillsdale on top at 134 points, Findlay with 104.5, and Ashland with 78.5. On the men's side, Ashland took the top spot with 149 while Findlay scored 98 and Hillsdale had 42.

On the women's side, the Oilers secured the top two spots in the pole vault as both sophomore Morgan England and sophomore Lindsey Kluesener reached the NCAA Division II provisional mark. England won the event with a mark of 12'11.75, the third-highest in G-MAC history and second-highest in the country this season, while Kluesener finished second with a mark of 12'00.00. 

Junior Brooke Mangas was first in the high jump with a leap of 5'03.75 and sophomore Simone Green won the long jump with a mark of 19'09.75. 

In the shot put, sophomore Paige Emnett finished as the runner-up with a heave of 44'00.50. Senior Jenna Shipman also secured a runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash at 59.88 while junior Gabrielle Lawrence was second in the 3,000-meter run at 10:11.52. 

On the men's side, junior Sterling Mungro scored a pair of first place finishes in the shot put and weight throw. He won the shot put with a provisional heave of 54'10.25 and captured gold in the weight throw, where he owns the second-best throw in the country this season, at 68'07.25, which was also a provisional toss and the third-best throw in Division II this year.

Junior Xavier Marable, who already owns the top time in the nation this season in this event, took the top spot in the 400m dash as he crossed the line in 48.96 seconds, an NCAA provisional run.

Sophomore Cameron Stine won the high jump with a leap of 6'06.25 and sophomore Chris Cooper took second in the same event with the same mark. 

Senior Gabe Makin won the pole vault at 15'02.75 while senior Seth Saylor also secured a first place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:00.74. 

Sophomore Josh Verhoff added a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash at 22.24 for the Oilers as well. 

The Oilers will be back in action again on Jan. 30 when they host another home meet.
