Oilers in 1st After Day 2 of G-MAC Championship

The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up the second day of the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship on May 6 in Owensboro, Ky. The women are winning with 94 points while the men are in first with 92 points.

Sophomore Paige Emnett won another individual title on Thursday after taking first in the discus with a heave of 44.95 while sophomore Brynlee Hanneman finished as the runner-up at 43.36 meters.

Sophomore Simone Green also brought home a title in the long jump with a leap of 5.55 meters.

The Oilers also had some good results during the preliminary round as junior Hayley Robinett, sophomore Bethany Smith, freshman Kylie Ray, and junior Michaela Butler all finished as the runner-up in their respective events during the opening round. Robinett took second in the 800-meter prelims at 2:16.78, Smith was second in the 400-meter prelim at 57.31, Ray was second in the 400-meter hurdles prelim at 1:04.21, and Butler was second in the 200-meter prelim at 25.17. They will all compete in the finals tomorrow.

On the men's side, senior Austin Combs secured his second title of the meet after winning the discus with a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying toss of 52.36 meters while sophomore Keandre Marlow took home the gold in the decathlon with a provisional qualifying mark of 6,328 points.

Freshman Alex Mutchler finished third in the pole vault with a provisional qualifying mark of 5.03 meters while senior Martin Etsey was third in the long jump at 6.84 meters.

In the preliminary round, junior Xavier Marable finished with the top time in the 400-meter at 48.33.
