Oilers Compete in Hillsdale Winter Classic and Tiffin Revolution Open

Hillsdale, Mich./ Tiffin, Ohio The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field team competed today, Saturday, Jan 22 in both the Hillsdale Winter Classic in Hillsdale, Michigan and the Tiffin Revolution Open in Tiffin, Ohio.

Women's Results 

For the Oilers, the women's pole vault picked up right where they left off as they dominated the event. Findlay's top finisher was senior Savannah Amato, who competed unattached but will be back in orange and black in the spring outdoor season. Finishing behind her, in second place, was junior Lindsey Kluesener who cleared 4.09m (13'5.00") which surpasses the NCAA provisional mark in the event and is good for the third-best effort in the country this season. Following Kluesener was senior Meadow Cromer and junior Morgan England who both met the NCAA provisional by clearing 3.84m (12'7.25").  

Men's Results 

Senior Gabe Makin took first in the men's pole vault, clearing a height of 4.63m (15'02.25") on his third attempt. Following Makin  was Sophomore Jacob Michael who took second by also clearing 4.63m (15'02.25"). 

The pole vault teams were the only event travelling to this competition leading to a fourth place finish of both the men and women's teams.

Women's Results

On the track, freshman Nicole Fishpaw picked up a second place finsih for Findlay in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.89. Findlay dominated the 400-meter dash with Oilers in the first six spots. Senior Hayley Robinett led the way finishing with a time of 1:01.05, followed by freshman Taylor Ivory with a time of 1:01.10 and coming in third was sophomore Cassidy Baran with a time of 1:03.13. Findlay took second and third in the 800-meter run. Sophomore Maya Hamsher finished in second with a time of 2:25.15 and sophomore Justine Hunt took second with a time of 2:29:75.  

The Oilers also dominated the women's mile, taking four of the top five spots. Freshman Reilly Cozette led the way with a first-place finish with a time of 5:29:81. Coming in second was sophomore Justine Hunt with a time of 5:30:63 and coming in third was sophomore Hailey Wilson with a time of 5:33:43. The Oilers took first in the 4x400 relay, the team of Kenedi Hayden, Cassie Warner, Katie Keller, and Taylor Ivory with a time of 4:14:85. 

On the field side, Findlay took the top spot in the shot put with junior Paige Emnett's mark of 13.84m (45'5.0'') which surpasses the NCAA provisional mark. Emnnett also took second place in the weight throw with a mark of 17.24m (56'06.75'') also surpassing the NCAA provisional mark. Findlay dominated the long jump, taking the first three spots. Junior Simone Green took the top spot with a mark of 5.58m (18'03.75") which met the NCAA provisional mark.  

Men's Results

On the men's side, the Oilers took the top three spots in the 400 meter-dash. They were led by junior Josh Verhoff who took the first spot with a time of 51.53. He was followed by senior Lane Kolb with a time of 52:30 followed by sophomore Isaac Webb with a time of 52:90. Distance runner Noah Fisher took first place in the men's mile with a time of 4:19:03. Sophomore Justin Foster took first in the 3000 meters run with a time of 8:34.85. 

The Oilers took the first spot in the 4x400 relay, the team of Brandon Klug, Drew Lemaster, Lane Kolb, and Isaac Webb, with a time of 3:33.78. 

On the field side, Cameron Stine finished first in the high jump with a mark of 1.99m (6'06.25''), following Stine was Chris Cooper who came in second with a mark of 1.94m (6'04.25''). Max Prenger took second in the weight throw with a mark of 17.40m (57'01.0'').  

 The Oilers will be back in action Jan. 28 and 29 at home for the Findlay Alumni Classic in the Ralph & Gladys Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex.
