Oilers Complete Day Two of NCAA DII Nationals | Combs and Payton Compete

Allendale, Michigan- The University of Findlay men's and women's track team completed day two of the NCAA Division II National Championship today, May 27. Competing for the Oilers were senior Austin Combs and freshman Shakur Payton.

After taking runner-up in the hammer throw yesterday, Combs was back on the field in the discus throw. He was seeded twenty-first entering the event. After a throw of 49.01m on the first attempt, Combs was 2.18m short of advancing to the finals. His throw of 49.01m left him in thirteenth place. 

Payton, who was recently named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, represented the Oilers in the high jump. He cleared 2.02m on his first attempt before having three failed attempts at 2.07m. His clearance left him in sixteenth place.

The Oilers will conclude the NCAA Division II National Championship tomorrow, May 28. Competing for the Oilers on the final day are seniors Meadow Cromer and Savannah Amato in the pole vault and freshman Trista Fintel and junior Paige Emnett competing in the shot put.
