Payton Competes at USATF U20 Outdoor Championship

Findlay, OH- The 2022 USA Track and Field (USATF) is hosting the 2022 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon on June 23-25. Freshman Shakur Payton qualified in the high jump and will compete against five of the nation's top talents in the event. The high jump will be held Friday, June 24th at 12:45pm PST (3:45pm EST). 

The 2022 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships will serve as the selection event for the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships to be held in Cali, Colombia, August 1-6, 2022.

For the U.S. Team to the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships, in each individual event, the two highest placing finishers at the 2022 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships who elect to compete will be named to the Team. 

Payton had a standout freshman season with the Oilers. He led the teams to both Great Midwest Championship titles for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. He was named Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Freshman of the Year after stellar performances this spring, Payton finished in the top six in every event he competed in.
