Oilers Win Big at Findlay Alumni Classic

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field team concluded the 2023 Findlay Alumni Classic on Saturday, Jan. 21 in the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Findlay. Both teams came away with the win, edging out Tiffin, Lawrence Tech, and Toledo.

It's exciting to see so many big performances happening this early in the season. Both the men's and women's teams have individuals from every event area performing at a very high level. We will have very good opportunites to see more big performances as we look forward to the most competitive meets on our schedule in the coming weeks. 

Top Results
Women

  • Trista Fintel (So.)- The reigning Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week won the shot put  as her fifth attempt soared 14.82m. That is an NCAA provisional and is the 5th-best throw in D2 this season.

  • Paige Emnett (Sr.)- Took second in the shot put with a throw of 14.35m which meets the NCAA provisional. Her throw ranks tenth best in Division II this season.

  • Simone Green (Sr.)- Finished first in the triple jump with a distance of 11.60m. 

  • Lindsey Kluesener (Sr.)- Won the pole vault by clearing 3.83m. That mark meets provisional standards and is the 13th-best in D2 this season. 

  • Jordan Taylor (So.)- Won the 60m dash with a time of 7.73 seconds.

  • Reilly Cozette (So.)- Won the 1 mile run with a time of 5:04.43.

  • Taylor Ivory (So.)- First in the 400m dash with a time of 58.73.

  • Hayley Robinett (Sr.)- Won the 800m run with a time of 2:18.34.

  • Kassandra Stine (So.)- Second in the high jump, clearing 1.62m.

  • Hayley Robinett (Sr.), Addison Modd (Fr.), Kjerstin Scott (Fr.), Taylor Ward (So.)- Took first in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:20.43.

Men

  • Shakur Payton (So.)- First in the high jump, clearing 1.98m. 

  • Eliot Cummings (Jr.) - After a record breaking day yesterday, Cummings won the triple jump with a mark of 14.12m.

  • Gabe Makin (Sr.)- Won the pole vault with a 5.08m mark. His mark is the  sixth-best in D2 this season which meets the NCAA provisional. 

  • Josh Verhoff (Sr.)- Won the 60m dash with a provisional time of 6.81 seconds.

  • Simon Derstine (So.)- First in the 800m run with a time of 1:57.74. 

  • Jacob Michael (Sr.)- Took second in the pole vault with a provisional mark of 4.83m.

  • Nick Rice (Sr.), Isaac Webb (Jr.), Joe Sadowski (Jr.), Simon Derstine (So.)- Won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:26.00. 


The Oilers will be back in action at the Penn State National Open on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28.
