Bio

Jared Krout will be entering his seventh year with the Oilers track and field program during the 2023-24 season. He spent four years as an assistant coach in charge of the sprinters and hurdlers. In August of 2021, Jared was promoted to the position of head coach and will oversee both the men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams.

During his tenure with the program, Krout has coached 30 All-Americans and 68 G-MAC champions. As the head coach for Findlay, Krout has been named G-MAC Coach of the Year six times.

The 2023 campaign saw great success as the program brought home three of the four Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships. The women's squad won both the indooor and outdoor championships, while the men captured the indoor championship. The season was highlighted by Trista Fintel who captured the 2023 Division II Indoor National Championship title in the women's shot put. Fintel went on to capture the Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA. Her other accomplishments include first team all-conference, first team all-region, and first team all-American.

Prior to Findlay, Krout coached at Bluffton University where he coached the sprinters and hurdlers to multiple school records and conference championships.

Krout also spent time coaching sprints and jumps at Liberty-Benton High School from 2014-2016. He coached 18 state qualifiers, five school record holders, five individual state champions, and guided Michaela Butler to the OHSAA Division II state record in the 100m of 11.67 seconds. As the head girls coach, Krout led the program to back-to-back OHSAA State Championships in 2015 and 2016 on his was to earning USTFCCCA Ohio High School Girls Coach of the Year honors in 2016.

Krout is a 2010 graduate of Hillsdale College, was a 10-time GLIAC champion, and was the Great Lakes Regional Athlete of the Year in 2007 and 2008. Krout was a six-time All-American in the 200m, 400m, and long jump and still holds outdoor school records in the 400m (46.69) and long jump (25’-2.75” – 7.69m) and the indoor school record for 200m (21.56) at Hillsdale.

Coach Krout lives in Findlay with his wife, Circe, his twin boys, Nolan and Otto, and their dog, Scout.
