Findlay Blows Out Battlers | Streak Reaches Ten

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's basketball team made it ten consecutive wins with a 90-45 drubbing of Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) foe Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday, Dec. 19. With the win, the Oilers improve to 10-1 overall and remain atop the league with a perfect 7-0 record while the Battlers fall to 1-6 overall with a 1-5 mark in league play.

Findlay entered the game as the second-best shooting team in the country and improved on their season average with a 52.2% (35-of-67) performance on Tuesday night that included a stellar 9-of-17 from deep. Defensively, the Oilers have yet to allow a team to shoot 50% or better as they held the Battlers to just 37.3% (19-of-51). The Orange and Black also controlled the boards as they out rebounded ABU 42-to-26, but the big difference in the game came in the key. Findlay asserted their dominance over Alderson Broaddus, outscoring the Battlers 42-12 in the paint.

The reigning G-MAC Player of the Week, junior Anna Hintz, put together another solid performance as she scored 19 points on 9-of-12 from the floor to lead all scorers. She also grabbed five rebounds in the win.

Junior Jenna Stegmaier was a key piece to the victory as well, scoring ten points and collecting a team-high six rebounds. She also had a pair of assists. Coming off the bench and reaching double-figures was junior Dana Fricke who made a pair of triples to help her reach 11 points. She added a pair of rebounds and a steal while junior Christa Puthoff also contributed double-figures off the pine, scoring 14 points and snagging six rebounds.

Scoring a career-high was junior Kennis Mercer who poured in three shots from beyond the arc to finish with nine points on 3-of-4 from deep. Seniors Haley Horstman and Lynsey Englebrecht each scored seven points and led the team with five assists.

The Oilers are back in action on Dec. 30 when they travel to take on Davis & Elklins in a G-MAC game slated to tip off at 12:00 pm.
