Oilers Defend Home Court in Final Exhibition of the Preseason

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay wrapped up their preseason slate with a home exhibition contest on Tuesday, Nov. 6 against Ohio Wesleyan. Despite trailing late in the third quarter, the Oilers pulled away to earn an 89-76 victory.

The Bishops were on fire from deep to begin the contest as they connected on four threes in the first seven minutes to jump out to a 16-11 lead. Findlay closed with a 10-3 run to take a two-point lead heading into the second and ultimately a 45-36 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, Ohio Wesleyan battled back to take a 54-53 lead with 42 seconds to play in the quarter, but it was their last lead of the game as the Oilers went into the fourth with a 58-54 advantage.

Findlay put it all together in the final quarter as they put up 31 points to seal the victory.

Senior Anna Hintz led the way for Findlay, making 5-of-11 from the field to finish with 11 points. She also had a team-high nine rebounds and tied the team-lead with three assists. Freshman center Sydney Kin also scored 11 points on a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor. She had a pair of rebounds.

Also scoring in double-figures was junior Lauren Ruth who put up ten points on 4-of-7 shooting including a pair of shots from deep. Sophomore Madison Stolly chipped in nine points while freshman Bridget Landin, freshman Amber Schweiger, and senior Elissa Ellerbrock all scored eight points. Landin had eight boards, seven of which were on the offensive glass.

Senior Allie Thobe stuffed the stat sheet as she scored seven points, had four rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Findlay opens up their season on Friday, Nov. 9 at Wayne State in a game set to begin at 7:00 pm.
