Findlay Drops Close Contest with Ohio Dominican

The University of Findlay women's basketball team saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on Jan. 10 as Ohio Dominican University claimed a 76-71 victory over the Oilers in the Croy Physical Education Center. The loss gives the Oilers a 10-4 record on the season with a 6-3 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers trailed 73-71 with under 20 seconds to play and got a good look at a three from senior Anna Hintz, but the shot was blocked. Findlay then sent the Panthers to the free throw line with 7.7 seconds to play. Ohio Dominican split their attempts to increase the lead to three and Hintz missed another three point attempt with only a couple of ticks remaining. Ohio Dominican then tacked on two more points at the free throw line for the final margin of victory.

The Oilers shot 50 percent (29-of-58) from the floor while the Panthers connected on 51.9 percent (28-of-54) of their attempts. Ohio Dominican also made 12-of-25 (48%) attempts from behind the three point line while the Oilers only converted 26.3 percent (5-of-19) of their long range tries.

Hintz paced the Oilers with her eighth double-double of the season. She posted a game-high 28 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three steals and two assists. Her 28 points moved her into tenth place all-time at Findlay with 1,240 points as well.

Senior guard Elissa Ellerbrock had 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting while senior center Christa Puthoff had 13 points and eight rebounds.

Kennedy Schlabach and Angela Troyer led the Panthers with 21 points apiece.

The Oilers will be back at home on Saturday when they host Ohio Valley University at 1pm.
